KARAK, June 18: The anti-corruption establishment registered FIR against two patwaris here on Saturday for tampering with the revenue record of a citizen.

The anti-corruption establishment conducted an inquiry against the two patwaris, Zar Mohammad and Shabirul Wahab, after a resident of Mithakhel area, Asim Aziz, submitted an application with it, alleging that the revenue officials tampered with his revenue record and transferred his property to Rahmat Shah.

The inquiry proved allegations against the patwaris and lodged FIR against them, officials said.

Haqdad Khan, Awal Yaz Khan, Haji Behram Khan, Zar Payo Khan, Nazar Ali Khan and Ameer Jan, the elders of the area, said that people of the area were dependent on the only drinking water supply scheme since 1984. “But now it can’t fulfil requirements of such a large population,” they added.

They said that water supply scheme was out of order for the last many months. The residents of the area fixed faults of water pumps on self-help basis so many times in the past but now they could not afford to repair it. They said that people were buying drinking water at Rs1,000 per tanker from private tubewells. They added that selling of drinking water became a profitable business in the area.

They demanded of the authorities to repair the faulty water pumps within three days otherwise they would take to streets.
