KARACHI: At least five people were killed in suspected incidents of targeted killings during the past 24 hours in Karachi, DawnNews reported.

The dead included Shaikh Liaquat Ali, a former lawmaker and a member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). Ali was fired at when he was travelling in his car on the Abul Hassan Ispahani Road.

Separately, three bodies were found in Karachi's Pak Colony area. The bodies bore torture marks and the victims had been shot dead.

Moreover, in the city's Garden area, an imam of a mosque was gunned down by unknown assailants early on Saturday.

Authorities make arrests in Manghopir

Authorities conducted an operation against criminal elements in the city’s Manghopir area.

The action led to the arrests of eight individuals, whereas, 150 people were released after being questioned in the wake of the operation.
