KOHAT, Jan 31: A newborn baby who had been missing from the Women and Children Hospital, Kohat, was found in Hangu on Monday under mysterious circumstances.
The parents of the missing baby girl had lodged a report with Kohat city police station that their newborn baby was stolen soon after her birth from the Women and Children Hospital.
Giving details, the police said that a 70-year-old man Hassan Khan, resident of Kurram Agency, had found a 45-day baby in the fields of Darzizi Palosi and gave the baby to her sister. The police raided the house of Hassan Khan and recovered the baby.
Nauroz, father of the baby, had told the police that his baby was abducted from the ward 24 hours after birth.
The police said that Hassan Khan was refusing to hand over the baby to the parents, who claimed that they had recognised their baby. The Hangu city police returned the baby to the sister of the old man and decided to let the court decide the case.
Earlier, Kohat police had arrested the maid (Dai) of the hospital.
ROAD BLOCKED: Thousands of truckers blocked the Kohat-Hangu Highway on Monday in protest after police refused to allow mourners from Hangu to participate in Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) in Kohat on Monday.
The highway remained blocked till late in the night and the protestors were demanding the high administration officials to come to the scene for talks.
The police had earlier stopped a bus carrying mourners from Hangu to Kohat, saying that according to an agreement they could not participate in the Chehlum in Kohat. The truckers parked their vehicles from Raisano in Hangu up to Kohat to lodge a protest against the police's refusal to let the mourners participate in the Chehlum .
