RAWALPINDI, Nov 28: A man was shot dead near his home and a dead body of a woman was found on Sunday, police said.

Mohammad Shakeel Qureshi, 25, a laborer, left his People's colony house after telling parents that he was going to visit one of his friends.

A young man discovered badly injured Shakeel near his home. He was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital where he died.

Nazir Ahmed, Shakeel's father, told the police that as he rushed out of house on hearing screams from the street, he saw two unidentified persons standing close to his injured son, adding that they disappeared on seeing him. Police ruled out the possibility of a robbery as nothing was taken from the victim.

Passersby spotted a decomposed dead body of a woman on the bank of a nullah near KRL Chowk on Sunday.

Police shifted the body to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).

Police said the woman in her 30s was murdered a couple of days ago somewhere else and her body was thrown near the nullah.

Meanwhile, a man was hit and killed by a speeding wagon in Sihala on Saturday night, police said. Abdul Rahim was crossing the road when he was hit by wagon (PRK-4315) coming from Islamabad.

Its driver, Tariq Mehmood, was arrested.
