RAWALPINDI, Nov 25: Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) will launch a housing scheme for low-paid employees of Ministry of Defence on Friday.
A senior official of the RCB told that 35 acres of land of the defence ministry in Chakra would be utilised for this purpose where 300 residential units would be constructed, and the project would cost Rs85 million.
He said that work on the project would be launched on Friday and would be completed by next June. He said the project would be funded from annual development fund of the ministry.
He said the allotment of residential units would be done by the ministry and RCB would only develop the area. He said that all the arrangements in this regard had been finalised.
He said that the RCB would construct roads, streets and provide other civic facilities like water and street lights to the area. He said that the construction of the 300 units would solve the residential problems of employees of ministry of defence in Rawalpindi.
He said that the RCB would lay water supply lines in the locality, which would cost Rs22 million.
He said that the RCB would construct overhead water tank with storage capacity of 50,000 gallon of water, underground water tank with capacity of 100,000 gallon of water, tube well and water filtration plant in the housing scheme.
