LARKANA, Nov 25: The District Police Officer (DPO), Qambar-Shahdadkot has suspended an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) for allegedly torturing two villagers.

DPO Capt Azfar Mahisar suspended ASI Munawar Ali Khaskheli on Thursday for allegedly torturing Zulfikar Bhangar and Ghulam Bhangar after picking them up on Wednesday when they were guarding the paddy yield near village Ali Bakhsh Bhangar.

Forest Officer Sikandar Bhangar told Dawn that his brother Zulfikar and a relative Ghulam Mustafa were allegedly round up by an ASI who whisked them away to Mahi Makli police station where they were tortured.

The SHO let off them in the night because they were innocent, he said.

On Thursday they were produced before the DPO where they narrated their tale of torture, he said adding that the DPO suspending the ASI and ordered an inquiry into the incident.
