KOHAT, Nov 22: After a brief shootout with criminals in the no-go area of Sumari, police on Monday recovered two brothers who were kidnapped a few days back from Muslimabad.

According to police, a group of kidnappers, headed by Said Gul, had abducted two brothers Sardar and Aftab and demanded Rs2.5 million as ransom for their release.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by DSP Saddar Ehsanullah Khan conducted a raid on the hideout of kidnappers in Sumari mountains. The kidnappers opened fire on seeing the police, but had to surrender after a brief shootout. The police recovered the two brothers, who had been shackled by the kidnappers with chains and kept in a small room.

Police also arrested the ring leader Said Gul along with a kalashnikov and several cartridges.

The Jarma police have registered a case against Said Gul and started investigations. GROOM MISSING: A groom went missing after a man was killed in festive firing during a musical show at his wedding in Alizai here on Monday.

Police said that Noor Ali was killed when people were firing at a musical show at a wedding which turned the cheerful occasion into mourning.

When contacted, Ustarzai police said that the family of the victim had not nominated anybody in the FIR because the culprit could not be identified due to rush.

However, to discourage aerial firing on weddings the police tried to arrest the groom and his relatives, but they fled. The police raided several places for their arrest, but failed.

In another incident a girl, YB, allegedly shot herself with a pistol in Surgul village due to some private dispute.

The Ustarzai and Jarma police have registered the respective cases.
