DADU, May 30 Political activists and social workers took out a procession in Johi on Sunday to protest against police failure to arrest remaining accused nominated in a gang rape case.

The rally was taken out on the call of All Parties Conference.

The rape victim was kidnapped by eight armed men from Bachal Leghari village at least 25 days ago and allegedly gang raped.

The procession started from Makhdoom Bilawal Park and terminated at Kachho Park.

Speaking on the occasion, APC leader Abdul Hameed Soomro said that due to negligence of the DPO, the remaining five accused, including Laik Leghari, Ayub, Ali Hassan, Mehboob and Allah Ditto could not be arrested.

Chairman Awami Ittehad Qurban Khokhar said that the accused were roaming in Johi area and police were avoiding to arrest them.

Mehboob Babbur of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party said that the accused were hurling threats on the family of the victim and the journalists highlighting the event.

Ghulam Qadir Rind of the Sindh United Party said that lady doctor of the Civil Hospital Dadu compiled the medical report in favour of the accused due to pressure of a particular group.

SP investigation Abid Kaimkhani, however, said that three of the accused had been arrested while the remaining one would be arrested and produced in the High Court of Sindh at Karachi on June 1.
