RAWALPINDI, April 20: Sri Lankan Anura Rohana maintained his lead in the 41st Bank Alfalah Amateurs Championship with another fine round of 73 that brought his aggregate score of 217 as he extended his lead to five strokes after three rounds at the Rawalpindi Golf Course.

Zeeshan Ali and Sri Lankan Lalith Kumara were both tied in second place with 222 each while a stroke behind in third spot were Taimur Hasan and Tariq Mehmood (223 each).

Zeeshan had another steady round of 73 while Taimur did well to card a par 72 on a day when temperatures rose and prominent golfer Dr. Aimal Zaman had to be hospitalised for dehydration.

Sri Lanka, who had won the International Team Match Friday, also claimed the Jayawardne Team Trophy played over 18 holes. Pakistan finished second.

In the Inter-Provincial Team Trophy, the Federal side comprising AVM Abbas Mirza, Taimur Hassan, Gulrez Shahid and Babar Khokhar was ahead with an aggregate score of 687 and Frontier two strokes behind at 689.

Zeeshan Ali, Kamal Ibrahim, Ibrahim Asad and Col Saud Khan form the Frontier squad.

In the net competition, Gulrez Shahid led the field followed by Dr. Tariq Malik and Maj Zeeshan Javed.

Tahira Nazir, captured the 54-hole ladies competition after overcoming Jamila Jabbar. Tahira had previously won the title in 1997 and 1998 and was runner-up in 2000.

Hamza Amin, took the title in the Boys B group with a round of four over par 76 for what was a fine victory.

In the Boys B net category, Danial Jahangir finished on top while Inamullah Abdullah was runner-up.

Omer Javaid meanwhile was the gross winner in the Boys A category with Mustafa Rafi Khan taking the net honours.
