KARACHI, April 17: Leaders of a 10-party alliance led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional in a meeting on Wednesday decided a their consensus candidates on most of the National and Sindh assembly seats, who would contest elections against the candidates of the Pakistan Peoples Party and its allies.

The meeting of the heads of the PML-F and its allying parties was held at the Raja House and chaired by Pir Pagara.

The participants in the meeting authorised the PML-F chief to decide candidates for those seats on which consensus could not be reached, after taking the parties concerned on board.

After the meeting, a joint communiqué issued by the alliance stated that the alliance was a ray of change for the people of Sindh and its performance in the elections would manifest the aspirations of the people.

The meeting participants demanded of the caretaker government that for holding transparent and free elections, the ‘political governor’ was changed before the elections and impartial staff was deployed on polling stations and the Army deployed in sensitive polling stations.

They also called for providing lists of polling stations and the staff to the candidates at the earliest.

PML-N Sindh chapter president Syed Ghaus Ali Shah, NPP chief Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, PML-F’s Imtiaz Ahmad Sheikh, Pir Yasir Sain and Kamran Tissori, SUP’s Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah, STPP chief Dr Qadir Magsi, Qaumi Awami Tehreek chief Ayaz Latif Palejo, JUI-F’s Aslam Ghauri, JI’s Dr Meraj ul Huda Siddiqui and JUP’s Owais Noorani attended the meeting.
