ACCORDING to a news report (March 14), a Pakistan Army soldier was stoned to death in Parachinar on the order of a tribal ‘court’ in the Kurram Agency for having an affair with a local woman.

How come our army was a silent spectator to this barbaric and gruesome murder of its soldier and did not bother to save his life?

How can you publicly stone to death a man for having an affair with a woman? This is un-Islamic. Having an affair with a woman is not a crime. It seems as if we are living in the stone age.

We should abolish all these tribal jirgas and establish the Pakistan Penal Code over there. These barbaric punishments are against human dignity.

Will the ISPR explain why our army did not do anything to save his life and arrest the perpetrators of this heinous crime?

You dont know the abc of Shariah, so let it go. The army should not interfere in religious or tribal matters.

This pretty much shows what authority does Pakistan government and army hold in their tribal areas. Had this soldier been killed by Indian army, they would have had cried foul with all their might but now when the soldier has been killed by local tribal over a petty matter of an affair with a local woman and that too in a most cruel way by stoning, the army has nothing to say or do about it. What a shame.

How can we fight this war if the military is not able to even save its own ? Stoning and beheadings are tolerated somehow and nothing is done to bring these terrorirsts to justice. And no tv anchor even had the adudacity to talk about it in their program.

"How can you publicly stone to death a man for having an affair with a woman? This is un-Islamic. Having an affair with a woman is not a crime. It seems as if we are living in the stone age." I don't know which Islam you follow but unfortunately this is the true face of Islam and what is widely believed and supported in the Islamic republic.

Shame on our professional(?) army for not defending one of its own. What purpose do these inhumane acts achieve? People seem to argue that they are a deterrence to adultery. Do they make lives of married couples happier?

Pakistan army against the Taliban is as helpless as the American army against aliens in an 80's Hollywood movie.

They are silent may be because right now is not the time to give fuel to the fire.

Unbelievable. No explanation, no condemnation, no subsequent necessary action(s) heard from our Army officials. What does it mean ?
