KARACHI, Feb 20: Five people were gunned down in the city on Wednesday, police said.

They said that a young man was gunned down in Orangi Town.

They added that armed men riding a motorcycle targeted Mohammad Aamir, 29, who was also on bike at Nishan-i-Haider Chowk, Sector 11½, within the remit of the Orangi Town police station.

The officials said the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead, they added.

The police investigators said the victim was a resident of Orangi Town.

However, they were not sure about the motive for the killing.

In the evening, another young man was gunned down in Orangi Town, police said.

They said that gunmen riding a motorbike targeted Mohammad Imran, 33, outside his house in Orangi Town’s Sector 14-B within the remit of the Pakistan Bazaar police station.

The victim was taken to the Qatar Hospital where he died.

The police were not sure about the exact motive for the killing.

They said that the victim was not affiliated with any political or religious outfit.

Man shot dead in Ranchhore Line In another incident, another man was shot dead in Ranchhore Line area on Wednesday night, police said.

They said that armed motorcyclists fired at a young man who was standing at a grocery shop near Lakhpati Hotel and rode away.

The victim died before he could be taken to hospital.

The police said that the victim remained unidentified till late in the night.

Meanwhile, panic and fear gripped the old city area due to intense firing between two groups in the Kharadar area late on Wednesday evening.

Man found shot dead An unidentified man was found shot dead in Memon Goth, Malir on Wednesday, police said.

They added that the body with a gunshot wound in the head was spotted in Jam Goth Naddi.

The victim, in his early 20s, was wearing jeans and a shirt, the police said.

They shifted the body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. Following a post-mortem examination, the body was shifted to the Edhi morgue for want of identification.

Body found in gunny bag The body of a young man stuffed in a gunny bag was found in PIB Colony on Wednesday morning, police said.

They added that the body was spotted in a ground behind the Askari Park.

While there was no gunshot wound visible on the body, it bore torture marks, said a duty officer of the PIB Colony police station.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities, where he was identified as Bilal Baloch, 22, resident of Munnu Goth in PIB Colony.

The police said the victim was said to be a PPP activist. DSP Nasir Lodhi said two murder cases had been lodged against him. He added that the victim had been missing since Monday night. On Tuesday, his family had lodged a disappearance report at the PIB Colony police station, the officer said.
