ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) report on the case against former chief of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Tauqir Sadiq and decided to bring the case pertaining to petroleum products for hearing, DawnNews reported.

Bringing the case on petroleum products under its remit, the Supreme Court issued notices to Secretary Petroleum and chairman Ogra.

A three member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the case.

Deputy Prosecutor National Accountability Bureau (NAB) said that the efforts were being made to arrest Sadiq. Adding that, he said that the ex-Ogra chief escaped before we raided his place.

The Chief Justice remarked “it seems that you are not serious about this case and want to  get rid of it, neither you arrested Sadiq nor you recovered money from the owners of the CNG stations.”

Justice Jawwad.S.Khawaja said that it was not an ordinary case and it was the matter of rupees 83 billion.

Prosecutor NAB told the SC that rupees nine million were collected to issue one license of CNG station and six million were collected upfront.

The hearing has been subsequently adjourned until Oct 18.
