KARACHI, Oct 13: Bodies of two men were found in gunny bags near the Customs House in the early hours of Saturday, police said.

The area police said that two suspicious bags were spotted by some transporters and they informed a police patrol about them.

The police found the two bullet-riddled bodies stuffed in the gunny bags and shifted them to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

“The victims were neighbours and identified as 42-year-old Nabi Bux and 45-year-old Asif Baloch,” said an official at the Jackson police station.

“They were residents of Lyari’s Shah Baig Lane. The exact reason behind their murder is not clear but they appear to be part of the recent wave of violence and infighting between criminal gangs in Lyari.”

The victims were associated with the welding business, he said, adding that Mr Bux was father of three, while Mr Baloch had two kids.

“The bodies bore severe torture marks and both of them were shot in the head from a very close range,” said an official at the Civil Hospital Karachi. “We have found the trend in recent days that the victim is shot more than once after brutal torture. They are mostly shot in the head and then their bodies are stuffed in gunny bags.”

On Friday, the body of an unidentified man was found stuffed in a gunny bag in Nazimabad’s Chawla Market. He was also shot in the head.

They said that 45-year-old Akram Baloch was found shot dead inside his house situated in Street 7 of Jinnahabad within the remit of the Napier police station.
