KARACHI, Aug 10: Advance Telecom and United Bank Limited (UBL) played out a thrilling tie in the 27th Karachi Gymkhana PTV Ramazan Cricket Festival to book their places in the quarter-finals at the KG Ground here on Friday.

The bankers were dismissed for 142 in 19.5 overs before Advance Telecom matched that total while losing five wickets in their 20 overs.

UBL were declared the winners of Group ‘D’ on net run-rate with second-placed Advance Telecom qualifying to meet reigning champions Omar CC in third quarter-final on Monday. The remaining last-eight round ties are Medicam CC v KESC (Saturday), Mohammad Hussain CC v Dollar (Sunday) and Tapal CC v UBL (Tuesday).

Summarised scores: UNITED BANK 142 in 19.5 overs (Wasim Ahmed 37, Misbah Khan 26, Kashif Bhatti 26, Zafar Khatpat 23; Babar Agha 3-29, Wajid Mahmood 2-34); ADVANCE TELECOM 142-5 in 20 overs (Babar Agha 47, Fawad Afridi 43, Mukhtar Ahmed 23).
