LAHORE, Aug 2: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Syed Munawar Hasan said on Thursday India’s permission to Pakistanis to invest there was a plan to destabilise the country.

“India is continuously trying to weaken Pakistan under a plan. Its water aggression against our country is going on as it has built 62 dams over the Pakistani rivers and is denying this country its due share of water,” the JI chief deplored in a statement.

He said India wanted to convert Pakistan into a desert and destroy its industries, agriculture and economy so as to make it totally dependant on it.

“The JI appeals to patriotic citizens and businessmen not to fall in this trap,” the statement said.

He said the energy crisis had been created to compel the industrialists to shift their capital abroad. Almost 40 per cent of the country’s industry had already shifted to Bangladesh and the rest could be tempted by the Indian offer, he said.
