QUETTA: The Supreme Court cancelled on Tuesday the bail of Nawabzada Shah Zain Bugti, grandson of the late Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, and his 26 companions in a weapons case.

The Balochistan government had challenged the Balochistan High Court’s decision of Jan 17 last year to grant them bail.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry headed the bench that set aside the BHC order. He said there should be no discrimination with anyone because everyone was equal before the law.

Nawabzada Shahsain was arrested by personnel of the Frontier Corps and police on Dec 22, 2010, in Belili, near Quetta when he was returning to the city from Chaman.

The FC claimed to have seized 46,000 rounds, 43 Kalashnikov rifles, anti-aircraft guns, explosives, landmines, anti-personnel mines and other heavy weapons from his possession in 16 vehicles.
