KARACHI: Pakistan’s campaign in the 27th Asian snooker championship came to an end on Friday when country’s lone survivor Shahid Aftab was humbled by Thailand’s Passakorn Suwannawat 5-2 in the quarter-final in the Indian city of Indore.

Passakorn beat the Asian debutant 93-3, 65-21, 52-65, 75-25, 55-69, 112-4, 65-7 to become the only Thai to make it to the last four stage.

At the time of filing this report, two Indians – former world amateur snooker champion Pankaj Advani and Aditya Mehta – have reached the quartet.

The Thai, who took a brisk start, maintained the pace over his opponent despite conceding third and fifth frames.

Mohammad Sajjad and Imran Shahzad could not go beyond league matches. Results: Quarter-final: Passakorn Suwannawat (Thailand) bt Shahid Aftab (Pakistan) 5-2 (93-3, 65-21, 52-65, 75-25, 55-69, 112-4, 65-7).
