LAHORE: The Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) on Monday directed all the boards of intermediate and secondary education of the province to complete paper marking of the matriculation examination and announce the result till Sept 5.

Earlier, the government had suspended practical examinations of intermediate class 9th and 10th due to the coronavirus pandemic and the marking of the papers was also stopped because of the closure of all BISEs of the province.

However, the Punjab government had given approval to marking the papers of class 9th and 10th in June and most of the boards had completed 70 percent checking of the papers.

There were rumours that the government would not be able to announce the result of class 9th and 10th as per the schedule and all the students would be promoted to next classes without marking of the papers.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Higher Education Department directed the BISEs of the province to complete marking as soon as possible and set a deadline to announce the result till September 5 without holding practical examination.

The government had directed all the BISEs to announce the results of the intermediate classes on the same date so that all the students could get admissions in grade-11 after the opening of the colleges tentatively on Sept 15.
