BAHAWALPUR: Another Tezgam Express passenger Rubina Shaheen, injured in the train fire near Liquatpur on Oct 31 at the Bahwal Victoria Hospital (BVH) here on Monday.

Ms Shaheen was among the nine injured passengers, who were shifted to BVH from the train. She was traveling with her husband Shahid Imran from Karachi to Jhelum. Her husband was among the injured passengers and was being treated at the BVH’s surgical ward No 1. BVH Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Jahanzeb said she succumbed to her head injuries early on Monday. Her husband took her body to Karachi. Shahid was stated to have recovered from his burns.

Dawn learnt that after Tezgam coaches caught fire, the deceased along with her husband and other passengers jumped off of the running train and suffered serious head injuries. According to surgical ward doctors, the other remaining seven injured admitted passengers were recovering in the BVH.

DEATH: A student living in a private hostel in Satellite Town here died in mysterious circumstances on Monday.

Dawn learnt from BVH doctors that someone left unconscious Umar Ismail (24) outside the emergency ward and fled. According to doctors, they informed the police and treated Umar Ismail, who could not survive and expired.

The Baghdadul Jadid police took the body into custody for postmortem examination. The police had yet to interrogate the hostel owner and students. Some doctors (on the condition of anonymity ) said the deceased apparently died from poisonous material.
