ISLAMABAD: A man killed his sister and a man allegedly in the name of honour on Wednesday.

The incident took place on I.J.Principal Road near Faizabad where the man intercepted the couple and opened fire on them, the police said, adding that as a result both suffered multiple injuries.

Onlookers overpowered the gunman and handed him over to the police who reached the scene after receiving information. The injured were shifted to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Station house officer (SHO) of the Industrial Area police station said the victims and the suspect were natives of a village near Peshawar. The police interrogated the suspect who disclosed that his sister was a married woman and had three children. The woman eloped with a man to Kashmir where they spent sometime. The suspect had been following them from Kashmir and later intercepted them at Faizabad where he opened fire on them.

The SHO said apparently it seemed the couple had reached Islamabad on Wednesday and had disembarked from a passenger vehicle at Faizabad when the suspect shot them.
