QUETTA: The Balochistan health authorities has ordered the chief drug inspector to ensure a halt to supply of three medicines — found unfit for use by patients after a laboratory test — to government hospitals in the province.

A statement issued by the health department here on Sunday said that according to a fact finding report of the Balochistan Drug Testing Authority, the medicines Alive, Acro ox and Solpadine were found to be substandard.

The medical store department was also ordered to stop supply of these medicines to government hospitals and collect the already supplied medicines. “These medicines will be destroyed immediately,” the statement said.

It recommended that legal action be taken against the company producing these medicines which were supplied by Pakistan Pharma. It said the amount paid for purchase of the medicines should be recovered.

The health department regularly examines drugs supplied to government hospitals and sold at medical stores at the drug testing laboratory of Quetta.
