Wedding halls to close by 11pm

KARACHI: People in the city will have to wind up wedding festivities by 11pm after two weeks as the city administration on Thursday decided to curtail the timing of such functions by one hour.
Sources said the decision to this effect was taken at a high-level meeting with Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani in the chair.
Reviewing the problems caused by late-night wedding functions, the meeting decided to implement stern action, including sealing of marriage hall, in case of violation of the new timings, they said.
A campaign to implement the decision would be launched after two weeks, they said.

What about late night musical functions in houses? In DHA phase 6, on Khayaban-e-Ittehad around the areas of 26th Street, certain properties are let for functions and they disturb the residents as the functions last till the middle of the night. Occasionally such functions are held on weekdays which is unacceptable. Usually high-ups are involved where local authorities are unable to intervene or wish not to.

It is a good initiative to close down the halls at 11 but what about these Chai resturant which are kept open till 4 am in the morning. Disturbing the sleep of the locals residents and paying no taxs. Want to be fair then be fair to all, or non at all.

Should allow only in day time. It will save electricity
Also impose 50% tax on weedings so people won't spend too much on lavish foods.
