LAHORE: A joint team of the city administration, Lahore Electric Supply Company and police disconnected on Tuesday power supply to 60 residents of Manawan for stealing electricity directly from 11kV distribution lines.

The team led by the respective assistant commissioner and Lesco’s superintending engineer raided Kachayka area and found residents stealing electricity directly from the 11kV lines. The team removed transformers of various capacities from the poles and disconnected supply to the entire village. It also charged around 200,000 units to all those stealing electricity.

“Application for registration of cases against power thieves have also been submitted to the respective police station,” a senior Lesco official told Dawn.

SEALED: LDA teams comprising officials of directorate of estate management (private housing schemes) and metropolitan planning wing sealed on Tuesday offices of eight illegal housing schemes along Raiwind and GT roads.

According to a spokesman, the schemes that faced the action included Al Kabir Town (phase-2), Dream Housing, Royal Enclave, Mehar Garden, Al Hadi (phase 2), Al Ghani (phase 3), Green Land, Al Raheem (phase 4) and sector C and D of Metro City.
