ISLAMABAD:The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) will deploy more than 566 officials on various routes of Muharram processions so that they do not inconvenience the road users.

According to sources, SSP (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed will monitor the arrangements while four DSPs and 19 inspectors will also perform duties.

They will keep the traffic flow smooth by shifting the road users from procession routes to alternative ones.

According to the traffic plan for main mourning procession to be taken out from Imambargah Asna-i-Ashri G-6/2 on Muharram 9, the 7th Avenue from F-6 Chowk to Suharwardy Road, Fazal-i-Haq Road from Chine Chowk to Kalsum Plaza will be closed for traffic.

The plan said the road from Iqbal Hall to Melody Chowk, Municipal Road from Markazi Jamia Masjid to Polyclinic Chowk, Luqman-i-Hakeem Road from Polyclinic to Lal Quarter, G-6 Service Road from G-6/2 Chowk to Lal Quarter Chowk would remain closed and the traffic would be diverted to alternative routes.

For the procession to be taken out from Imambargah Musa Kazim in I-10, the roads including I-10 Markaz, CDA Chowk #1, Katarian bridge, I.J. Principal Road (Pirwdhai and Faizabad area) will remain closed for traffic.

Citizens have been asked to use I.J. Principal Road if they want to go to I-10 (Sabzi Mandi) from Faizabad, Murree Road, Bhara Khau or Khana Bridge.
