QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Mohammad Khan Achakzai has said that the mother tongue of any nation is its first identity and nations become weaker when their languages weaken.

Speaking at a seminar on International Mother Language Day here on Wednesday, he said practical steps should be taken for the promotion of the mother tongue and making it social, trade and mass communication language instead of just showing love for and affiliation with it.

He underlined the need for giving regional languages such as Pashto, Balochi and Brohvi, which were considered old languages in history, the status of national languages.
