LAHORE: Newage/BJJ Pipes (N/B), Army and Barry’s carved out easy victories in the Aibak Polo Cup here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Wednesday.

A superb eight-goal treat from Salvador Ulloa helped N/B outclass Master Paints Blacks 10½-6. The remaining two goals from the victors came through Ahmed Zubair Butt.

Gerardo Mazzini scored a hat-trick and Hissam Ali Hyder chipped in with two goals for the losing outfit.

After dominating the first chukker leading 2½-0, N/B consolidated the lead in the second chukker to 5½-2.

It was followed by a nail-biting fight in the third chukker as both the teams scored two goals each giving the winners an impressive lead of 7½-4. The same trend continued in the fourth chukker as N/B registered a fine victory.

Meanwhile, four goals by Ignasio Negri helped Army outgun Rizvi’s/Master Paints 5-2 in the second match of the day.

Maj Omer Minhas struck the remaining goal for the winners.

Saqib Khan Khakwani and Hamza Mawaz Khan scored one each for the losing team.

After a close fight in the first two chukkers — 1-1 scoreline in the first and 2-2 in the second — Army eventually got the upper hand in the remaining two chukkers scoring three goals to earn a big win.

In the third match, Juan Maria’s magnificent eight-goal outing enabled Barry’s to overpower Rijas Aces/PAF 9-6½. Bilal Haye hit the remaining one goal.
