Lahore Qalandars' preparations for the 2018 Pakistan Super League were dealt a major setback as their star batsman Chris Lynn dislocated his right shoulder while playing for Australia in the T20 Tri-Series final win against New Zealand, ESPNcricinfo reported on Wednesday.

Lynn, a hard-hitting batsman whom the Qalandars were hoping to rely on for the upcoming season, was attempting to intercept a Ross Taylor shot when he dived awkwardly and picked up the knock.

The 27-year-old Aussie, per ESPNcricinfo, has had his left shoulder operated on thrice in recent years, and now appears to have damaged his right one as well.

"Chris dislocated his right shoulder after landing awkwardly on it when fielding the ball," said Australia's physio, Alex Kountouris. "His shoulder was able to be put back into place at the ground and he was consequently sent for X-Rays which revealed no major bone injury.

"At this stage Chris will not travel to the Pakistan Super League in Dubai. He will return to Brisbane to undergo further scans and assessment and from there we will have a better understanding of the ongoing management, along with the return-to-play timeframes."

Lynn is now certain to miss at least the Qalandars' opening game of the PSL against Multan Sultans on Friday. It, however, remains to be seen whether he will be available later on in the tournament, although some publications have already ruled him out of the entire tournament.
