Self-check on Eid

This is regarding the article “Self-check on Eid” by Saira Owais Adil (YW, August 26). It is true that Eidul Azha is celebrated with great vigour in Pakistan. Sacrificial animals are seen in almost every house and streets. Everyone tends to their animals with great love and care. This brings out the spirit of Eid.

However, there are few things that must be kept in mind which are somehow over shadowed by the festive feel of the event.

The writer has mentioned these important safety precautions and we should definitely follow them for our own safety.

Shah Nawaz Library

I am a student of 10th grade and a regular visitor of Shah Nawaz library, Larkana. Since a library is a place where one goes to study or read, there needs to be complete silence in it for this purpose.

Unfortunately, this is not the case with the famous Shah Nawaz library of Larkana. Nobody seems to observe the rule of maintaining silence. Students who go there to study or read are greatly disturbed due to the noise there.

The library now seems more like a café with students chatting, gossiping and having fun. The staff of the library seems to have no concern about what is going on there.

Therefore, students who go there to study get into commotion with those who are there just for fun.

Apart from that, the library offers a biometric system to keep a check on visitors’ entry which works perfect in the morning shift, but in the evening, it is discontinued because the watchman turns it off so that he can rest.

I want to draw the attention of Sindh Education Department and the higher authorities to take immediate measures and strict action against the library administration to maintain discipline.

School, a place for learning

School is a place of learning and books are our real friends. There are thousands of informative books in the world which can’t be replaced with material provided on the internet. In the same way, no tablets, computers or internet can replace the significance of schools.

Technology is good for kids but it doesn’t mean that kids start wasting their precious time on it, instead they should spend their time in parks and in physical games.

The internet has many disadvantages but a book had no disadvantage.

So, in my opinion, school cannot replace books by using only tablets or laptops for the purpose of education.
