ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday called for effective legislation to curb domestic violence and register such incidents as criminal cases.

Talking to retired Justice Ali Nawaz Chowhan, chairman of the National Commission for Human Rights, at Aiwan-i-Sadr, he laid stress on the protection of the rights of the marginalised segments. He said the Constitution provided full protection to basic rights of all citizens of the country.

He noted that due to measures taken by the government, the situation of human rights was better in Pakistan than most countries in the world.
