ISLAMABAD: The Aabpara police on Thursday arrested a woman and her mother for allegedly throwing a newborn baby boy in the toilet of the Polyclinic hospital where he died.

The mother was shifted to the women police station, while the woman who delivered the baby is still in the hospital, but in police custody. The woman, who is a resident of Bhara Kahu, gave birth to the baby in Polyclinic.

“On Thursday morning, they (the two women) threw the baby in the toilet and were trying to flee. However, security guards of the hospital caught them because of their suspicious behaviour. When the guards recovered the baby from the toilet, he had already died,” an official of the hospital said.

Media coordinator for the hospital Dr Imtiaz Hasan confirmed the incident.
