DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two suspected militants were killed while two policemen sustained injuries during an exchange of fire in Kut Shahani area of Dera Ismail Khan here on Wednesday.

Police officials said that two constables were on way back to police lines after participating in a search operation in the jurisdiction of University police station, when suspected militants opened fire and lobbed hand grenades at the cops, injuring them.

Other members of the police party cordoned off the area and started a search operation to trace the attackers. During the search, police personnel and the militants came across and traded fire, in which two attackers were killed. Identity of the outlaws could not be known.

The wounded police officials were taken to the district headquarters hospital, Dera. They were identified as Wilayat and Javed.
