TAXILA: A man was allegedly killed in an encounter with the Hassanabdal police on Saturday.

SHO Aabid Muneer told the media they had information that a man, wanted in an abduction for ransom case, was hiding in the house of Sian Ramzan. When a police party raided the house, the accused allegedly opened fire on the police. In retaliation, Ramzan, 55, died while the main accused managed to flee.

Police recovered three pistols and one Kalashnikov from the hideout of the kidnapper. No policeman was injured in the encounter.
