PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that the government will install new grid stations and upgrade the existing transmission lines in order to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply in the province and Fata.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of 132KV double-circuit power transmission line at Hayatabad, on Monday, he said the country was faced with energy crisis for quite some time, but said due to the keen interest of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, solid measures were in progress to overcome the problem. In this connection, he said, mega hydropower generation projects were under implementation in various areas of the province.
He said that efficient application of the available resources was need of the hour to ensure that Pakistan became part of the balanced economic environment internationally. Referring to the importance of efficient electrification system in tribal regions, Mr Jhagra said timely completion of the rehabilitation-oriented projects in Fata would be carried without any delay.
Appreciating the launching of double-circuit transmission line, the governor observed that it would help in ensuring uninterrupted provision of electricity in the Peshawar valley.
He expressed the hope that Pesco would complete all development works of public interest throughout the province which would ultimately improve the electricity distrwibution system.
