RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff-designate Gen Qamar Bajwa does not have any social media account, according to the director general of the Inter Services Public Relations.

All Facebook, Twitter and other social media identities and accounts in his name were fake, he said in a tweet on Sunday. “Gen Qamar Bajwa, the COAS-designate, has zero presence on social media.”

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar called Gen Bajwa on telephone and congratulated him on his appointment as the COAS. Mr Dar in a separate call also congratulated Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat on his appointment as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.

The ISPR chief said that Gen Bajwa will take over the command from Gen Raheel Sharif at a ceremony to be held on Tuesday at GHQ.

On Monday, a ceremony will be held at Joint Staff Headquarters to welcome Gen Hayat, the new CJCSC.

The CJCSC will be presented a guard of honour by the contingent of tri-services.
