QUETTA: At least 10 suspected militants were arrested in the Hoshab area of Kech district and Dera Bugti on Friday.

According to a Frontier Corps spokesman, FC and intelligence personnel cordoned off a house and conducted a search operation in Tank Bazaar, Hoshab.

The men hiding in the house started firing on the personnel and a crossfire continued for about two hours.

“Eight militants were arrested after a heavy gun battle,” the spokesman, Khan Wasey, said.

The arrested men belonged to the banned Baloch Liberation Front (BLF), he said. Four RPG7 (rocket-propelled grenades), five rifles, improvised explosive devices and 63kg of hashish were seized from the hideout.

The arrested men were handed over to the authorities concerned for interrogation.

FC personnel also arrested two suspected militants of the banned Baloch Liberation Army in Dera Bugti district.

According to sources, rockets, rocket launchers, submachine guns and explosives were also seized during a raid in the Kordan area.
