LAHORE: Samjhota Express will run according to schedule on Monday (today), said Pakistan Railways (PR) authorities an hour after announcing on Sunday night that the service of the train between Wagah and Attari has been suspended on the request of Indian railway authorities.
“The Ferozepur divisional superintendent (of Indian Railways) sent us a message in the afternoon through fax asking us to suspend operations of Samjhota Express for Monday in the wake of a planned protest by farmers at Amritsar,” Pakistan Railways Public Relations Director Dastaghir Baloch told Dawn.
However, within an hour or so another message from Indian authorities was received by the PR control room that arrangements had been made to operate the train according to schedule.
Officials at the Lahore office of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation had received the same information. He said the Dosti Bus would run according to its schedule on Monday but its route in India had been changed.
