KHAR: Action would continue against anti-state elements in Bajaur till elimination of last terrorist, said Brig Amir Kiani, Sector Commander of Pak Army North Command.

Brig Kiani replaced Brig Mohammad Ziaul Islam in a ceremony at Bajaur Scouts headquarters here on Sunday. Senior officials of security forces and local administration, including Commandant Bajaur Scouts Col Nayyar Zaman, Assistant Political Agent Mohammad Ali, tribal elders and members of peace committees, political leaders and traders attended the ceremony.

On the occasion, Brig Ziaul Islam handed over the command stick to Brig Kiani.

Speaking at the function, Brig Kiani said that he would continue the policy of his predecessor to rid the agency of militancy. He called upon the tribal elders to extend support to security forces to maintain peace and normalcy in the agency.

Brig Kiani pledged to continue action against anti-peace and anti-state elements till elimination of the last terrorist in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Brig Ziaul Islam said that security forces with the support of tribesmen and local administration successfully uprooted militants and their supporters in the agency.

He claimed that writ of government was restored in the whole area. He lauded trial elders and local people for their efforts and sacrifices in fighting against militants.

On the occasion, the elders and members of peace committee assured the officials of their support in fighting against militants.
