PESHAWAR: Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) Peshawar is going to set up ‘Peace Museum and Department of Archaeology’ in collaboration with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Directorate of Archaeology and Museums.

In this regard SBBWU Peshawar Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Razia Sultana and director at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Archaeology and Museums directorate Dr Abdul Samad signed a memorandum of understating (MoU) on Thursday at main campus of the university, said a press release issued here.

Prof Dr Razia Sultana after singing the MoU said that peace remained fundamental to our goals for education at the university. She added that peace and education are values which promote global citizenship and humane relationship. Establishment of a museum of peace in university by focusing on the issues of human security, equity, justice and intercultural understanding is a step in this direction

“Promoting remembrance and presenting historical truth are essential to reconciliation processes with the aim to prevent conflict in any form and including youth in peace building process,” Dr Sultana said.

On the occasion, the participants including Dr Zainul Wahab, Department of Conservation Studies, Hazara University, Manshera, Mr Nawazuddin and Mr Nauman Anwar, archaeologists at Peshawar Museum, Mr Ozair Afridi, archaeological angineer, Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Ms Rosemeen Riaz, focal person of the project, Dr Abdul Samad, director Archaeology and Museums, appreciated the efforts of varsity.

Dr Abdul Samad said that the university would be setting up first of its kind conceptual museum in the province and reiterated his support for providing technical expertise for setting up the facility.

Dr Razia Sultana thanked the experts for their valuable expertise and appreciated their commitment to the efforts of the university to promote archaeology and peace in the region and reaching out to the general public, especially women.
