MANSEHRA: The Mansehra police have claimed they have arrested three men for raping a ninth grade schoolgirl after kidnapping her.

“We have arrested all three suspects in the girl kidnapping and gang-rape case,” DSP Shimraz Khan told reporters here on Wednesday.

The suspects were produced before reporters.

Accompanied by SHO City Mohammad Saeed, the DSP said the schoolgirl was kidnapped when she was returning home after attending a school function on August 14 and that she was later gang-raped.

He said the gang-rape was confirmed by the girl’s medical examination.

The DSP said the girl claimed she disembarked from the taxi after it broke down on the way to her house, and got a ride in a private car, whose driver forcibly took her to an office in Thakra area, where three people first gang-raped her the whole night and then threw her near Lari Adda.

He said the girl later reached the city police station and lodged an FIR.

The DSP said the police later arrested all three suspects.

He said the suspects would be produced in a local court today (Wednesday) for the grant of physical remand to the police.
