Climate conducive for investment

PESHAWAR, Nov 25: Senior NWFP Minister Sirajul Haq has said that the MMA has established a truly democratic government in the frontier province and took a number of measures to develop social sectors besides cementing the bonds between the government and the people.

Talking to German ambassador Christopher Bromer here on Tuesday, Mr Haq said, the MMA had established the rule of merit, and social justice, ensured financial discipline, and created conducive atmosphere for investment in the province during a short span of time.

Above all, people-friendly decisions, and promotion of political tolerance by eliminating discrimination with the opposition were the other hallmarks of the MMA government, he added.

Moreover, the NWFP assembly held maximum number of sessions as compared to other assemblies of the provinces and legislation was also done. The world community has acknowledged this fact which is a great honour for the MMA government.

The MMA government comprises elements belonging to mediocre people while in the past, the province was ruled by traditional politicians.

He said, the MMA government has taken various steps to ameliorate the lot of women folk, education is being made free of cost, the enrolment of students in schools is increasing, women university and girls medical college are being established.

When asked about Hasba Act, the senior minister clarified that it was being brought purely in a constitutional and democratic manner for ensuring social justice and maintenance of public order. No additional force would be set up under this act and the police force would be utilized for it.

The German ambassador assured full cooperation and assistance on behalf of his government to the NWFP government.—APP
