BAHAWALPUR: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has announced a crackdown on ‘objectionable’ and unauthorised billboards and hoardings having weak structure.

The announcement was made by PHA Director-General/DCO Dr Ehtesham Anwar Mahaar here on Tuesday.

The DG said the crackdown was aimed at clearing the city of unlawful hoardings, ‘obscene’ advertisement material and regulating the publicity procedure in the city.

He said the PHA would initiate the process of new registration of clients/advertisers from July 1. He said the new hoardings and the advertisement material would be improved to match with the ongoing beautification campaign.

It merits mentioning that before the establishment of PHA by the Punjab government, the publicity drive was handled by the city tehsil municipal administration which was also authorised to register firms and receive registration fee.

In the new financial year, the PHA will issue registration and receive fees from the interested parties. For this purpose, the city TMA has transferred its record for the previous three years of 2014, 2015 and 2016 to PHA.

DISPENSARY: Minister of State for Education Baleeghur Rehman on Tuesday inaugurated the work on restoration of Younus Shaheed TB dispensary near Kotwali police station.

The dispensary had been neglected for the last many years and now its double-storey building will cost Rs5.8 million.

The minister also inspected the front desk set up at Kotwali police station near the dispensary.
