LAHORE: The Jamaat-i-Islami said on Saturday the leadership of the PTI and the PPP had not consulted it and other opposition parties for filing a reference for disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Speaking at an Iftar dinner, JI acting chief Liaquat Baloch said it had been the unanimous demand of the opposition parties that an autonomous judicial commission be set up for the accountability of corrupt elements. He said the PPP and the PTI had not consulted the joint opposition before filing a reference for disqualification of the PM although it was necessary that all opposition parties were consulted and an agreed decision was adopted.

He said the corruption-free Pakistan movement of the JI was continuing as the accountability of the corrupt elements whether in the ruling party or the opposition or state institutions was inevitable.
