Terrorism warrants a global response, says General Raheel in Germany

BERLIN: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, on a official visit to Germany, said terrorism warrants a global response as it has morphed in to a global phenomenon, said a tweet by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

"Synergy by all will be required to effectively win," said the army chief.

General Raheel Sharif also met the German foreign minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin.

During the meeting with the German diplomat, the discussion focused on bilateralism and peace and security in the region. The German foreign minister also acknowledged Pakistan's contribution in the war on terror.

He also assured full support for Pakistan's efforts for peace and stability in the region, said another tweet from the ISPR.

The chief of army staff later held an interactive session at Koerber Foundation, a think tank in Berlin.

General Raheel explained in detail the challenges faced by Pakistan, and the country's contribution towards ensuring peace and stability in the region.

The army chief elaborated during the session that Pakistan is moving towards concluding the kinetic phase of Operation Zarb i Azb and have cleared FATA areas up till the Afghan border.

General Raheel urged the participants to support Pakistan, as the country has sacrificed immensely and continues to do so.

Earlier on Monday, General Raheel Sharif arrived in Germany and met his German counterpart, the Chief of Staff of the Federal Armed Forces of German.
