ALL local and multinational pharmaceutical companies supply their drugs through medicine carrier companies from Nawabshah to Naushahro Feroze, Sindh. This region is the hottest; temperatures here can rise up to 50°C. However, the pharmaceutical companies don’t keep the medicines in cold storage during transportation — as a result of which the efficacy of most drugs is lost.

Drugs should be transported and stored between temperatures of 25°C and 30°C. Any warmer, and the medicines lose efficacy.

The authorities concerned should take the necessary measures to ensure that medicines don’t go bad during transportation.

I request the Sindh health secretary, DHOs and drug inspectors to ensure that medicines are kept in cold storage during transportation.
