ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced on Saturday financial assistance of Rs2.5 million each for the heirs of two PIA employees who lost their lives in a firing incident that occurred outside the Karachi airport during the recent protest by PIA workers.

The prime minister said that death of the two was not only a loss for their families and friends but also for the national flag carrier. He also announced Rs500,000 each for those injured in the incident.

A press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said that the package approved by the premier included one job each for members of the families of the deceased in PIA based on their qualifications. “The government will pursue the investigations to find out those responsible for the murder of the PIA employees”, assured the prime minister. The families will be kept informed on a regular basis about the progress made in the investigations.
