Aaliji

IN the passing away of Aaliji, Pakistan has been deprived not only of a renowned poet, but also of a fighter for the promotion of Urdu. His was a multi-faceted person. There are very few poets that can be compared with him. He pursued Urdu literature all his life.

I suggest that Urdu University, Karachi, be named after him as Jamiluddin Ali Urdu University. Some of his patriotic poems should also be included in Urdu textbooks. It will be a small token of recognition of the services he rendered for Urdu in Pakistan.
