ISLAMABAD: Tehreek-Nifaz-e-Fiqhe-Jafria (TNFJ) on Monday announced its support to the PML-N candidates in the upcoming local government (LG) elections in Islamabad.

Addressing a press conference here at the National Press Club, the TNFJ political Cell chairman, Raja Zulfiqar Ali, said the ruling party had accepted their request with regard to resolving some issues and problems of the local Shia community.

The local government elections are scheduled to be held in Islamabad on November 30.

The PML-N secretary general, Iqbal Zafar Jahgra, MNAs Malik Ibrar, Anjum Aqeel and former Senator Zafar Ali Shah were also present on the occasion.

The PML-N leaders thanked the TNJF for their support.

Speaking on the occasion, Senator Jahgra appreciated the TNFJ decision to vote for the PML-N candidates. He said his party had been taking various steps for the welfare of the people. The PML-N leader said various steps were also being taken to improve law and order situation. “The Karachi operation is one such example which will change the fate of Karachiites,” he said.

To a question about some banned organisations allegedly supporting the ruling PML-N, he said that this was a wrong notion. “If anyone has evidence that people of banned outfits are taking part in elections from our platforms, he/she should point out, we will take up this matter,” he said.

MNA Malik Ibrar said the PML-N was enjoying full support of the voters in Islamabad. “Like cantonment board elections, we will sweep the Islamabad elections too,” he claimed.
