RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized a huge cache of narcotics from different parts of the country on Saturday.

An official spokesman said the ANF conducted seven operations in different parts of the country and seized 10.6 tons of Charas, 517kg of morphine, 55kg of opium and 930 grams of methamphetamine (Ice).

Ten people were taken into custody and three vehicles seized. The drugs seized valued at approximately Rs26 billion in the international market.

The ANF personnel raided a place in Killi Salman Khel area of Gulistan tehsil in Qilla Abdullah district and seized 7,830kg of Charas. The place was located in a complex mountainous area and the drug was stuffed in plastic bags.

In a deserted area of Killi Sobian in Chaghai disctrict, ANF personnel launched an intelligence-based operation during which they seized 517kg of morphine kept in plastic bags.

During the search of a bus near the Hub River Road at Raees Goth, the ANP personnel found 2,758kg of Charas and 55kg of opium. The drugs were hidden in improvised cavities created beneath the floor of the vehicle. Three suspects – Mohammad Naeem, Barkat Ali and Syed Fayyaz Hussain – were arrested.

The ANF personnel arrested two people near the Haji Shah Mor on the GT Road in Attack after finding 6kg of charas in their possession.

An ANF team intercepted a motorcyclist at Jada Chowk on the GT Road in Jhelum and during search found 1.2kg of Charas in his possession. The suspect, Imran Khan, was arrested.

A car was intercepted near Bilour Plaza in Peshawar during the search of which 450 grams of methamphetamine was found in it. Suspects Manzar Khan, Farooq Khan and Mohammad Siddique were taken into custody.

Also in Peshawar, ANF personnel intercepted a car on the Bara Road near Railway Phatak and during search found 480 grams of methamphetamine and 40 grams of heroin. Two suspects, Jannat Gul and Shah Khalid, were held.

Cases were registered against the suspects.
