LAHORE: Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation secretary Waqar Ilyas Khan has said nine female players of Pakistan have received Indian visa.

“We applied for the visa to take part in the first South Asian and Central Asian Ju-Jitsu championship to be held in Bangalore from Friday,” he said.

“We sent names of 25 persons including men and women players, four officials and two referees to the Indian High Commission for the visa but they issued visa to only nine women players,” the secretary complained.

He said they had received an invitation for the participation from Ju-Jitsu Union of Asia and its Pakistan chapter had sent a tentative list of the squad comprising 38 members.

Later, after a training camp, a 25-member squad was finalised and visas were subsequently applied for them.

“The refusal of visa to other members of the squad may jeopardize Pakistan’s chances of participating in the championship,” he added Pakistan is currently the Asian champion of ju-jitsu.
